The 2013 Honda models will be rolling into the Big Island Honda - Hilo showroom before long, and for the new model year, and almost all of them will come standard with rearview cameras. More specifically: 94 percent of the entire lineup will feature this piece of safety equipment, and every single truck and crossover will feature backup cameras. Yup, that includes the Honda Crosstour, CR-V, Pilot, Ridgeline and even the Odyssey, just to name a few.
Honda is also hard at work making other important safety features, like collision warning and lane-departure warning, more affordable for consumers. The rearview camera, for example, has proven to be so beneficial, the government is considering making it required standard equipment (like safety belts and airbags). Vicki Poponi, Assistant VP, Honda, explains, "At Honda, we feel this visibility feature will be important to many families and we are widely applying it even before we are required to do so."1
Meanwhile, Honda is consistently one of the top-ranking automakers when it comes to safety. Four models have received 5-Star Overall Vehicle Scores in the governments NCAP program, and nine Honda models are IIHS-designated Top Safety Picks.
