Honda opened up its R&D facility in Japan to top Honda Dealers across the US and Canada, like Big Island Honda- Hilo in Hawaii, were there to see what this auto maker's future holds.
The company showed off a Honda Accord with fuel-savings Atkinson Cycle engine. It has the ability to keep power without losing torque. Engine range will span 1.0 to 2.4 -liter, and maybe include a 3.5-liter V6, which is still in development.
Vehicles with a 148-horsepower, 1.8-liter engine were also present, which may find a home in 2012's Honda Civic. The engine consumes 10% less fuel than current powerplants. There was another Civic present, which was powered by a fast yet small 1.6-liter turbo diesel engine.
Finally, an 'Accord-size sedan' was set loose in Japan. It came with V6 sending 310 horsepower to the vehicle's front end, with a pair of electric motors powering the rear.
